Who We Are
Our website address is: https://pocketlawyers.app. Pocket Lawyers is a private legal consultation platform matching users with licensed duty lawyers in Malta.
Information We Collect and How We Use It
1. Real-Time Location Data
Pocket Lawyers requests access to your device’s location services. We collect and process your real-time location coordinates to match you with active-duty legal professionals in your immediate geographical vicinity (e.g., Malta vs. Gozo) and to ensure that relevant local legal guides are loaded. This data is only accessed when you actively initiate an emergency roadside legal call.
2. Camera and Microphone Access
To facilitate emergency consultations with duty lawyers, our application requires real-time access to your device’s camera and microphone. This allows you to communicate face-to-face via WebRTC video stream with your legal representative during a roadside police stop, LESA warden encounter, or collision.
3. Call Audio and Video Recordings
All emergency legal consultations initiated through the Pocket Lawyers app are automatically recorded (both video and audio streams). This recording is performed solely to capture and preserve critical, time-sensitive legal evidence of your roadside interactions. This data serves as legal proof of the event and can be used to protect your rights in court or administrative disputes.
Data Storage, Protection, and Retention
1. Secure Storage
All video and audio evidence recordings are uploaded directly to our secure, encrypted servers. Access to these recordings is strictly restricted. Only you (the user) and, with your explicit authorization, your designated legal advisor can access, play back, or download these recordings from your call history dashboard.
2. Encryption
We implement industry-standard AES-256 encryption for data at rest and TLS/SSL protocols for all data in transit to ensure your private legal consultations remain fully confidential and secure.
3. Data Retention
We retain your call recordings in your personal dashboard as long as your account remains active. You may request the permanent deletion of your recorded evidence at any time, subject to compliance with any legal hold requirements or statutory preservation obligations.
Your GDPR Rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to access, rectify, or delete your personal data. You can export a copy of your personal data or request deletion of your account and associated evidence at any time by contacting our support team at [email protected].
